DISCOMFORT
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
We have such a great opportunity daily to face discomfort voluntarily - bro why would i want to do this im so comfortable? Are we really comfortable or just used the way things are? If we are comfortable and happy you can ignore this post. But in my case I know for a long time I did basically everything to avoid discomfort not realizing I was already in constant discomfort. Bro what that makes no sense? Ok I’ll give an example, don't cry.
I used to love Maggi noodles which made me feel comfortable every time I ate them but felt discomfort right after for the next few hours and even the next day. So to counter that discomfort I ate more Maggi noodles. Or I used to feel sluggish/lethargic due not being active/good nutrition/hydration - so to feel comfort I used to play video games for hours (Runescape you know) which I had fun doing but then right after feeling discomfort again for hours and the next day. Or another example - not having confidence to talk to new people or girls as I felt insecure, so to feel comfortable I just put on music and grab an ice cap which made me feel comfortable in the moment but then the discomfort kicked in again. Hopefully you see a trend here - things that make us feel comfortable in the moment - food, games, social, drinks, tv (which are not the enemy, it's just the way we use them) lead to greater discomfort all the time.
Instead if we put ourselves in situations that cause us discomfort voluntarily, these prepare us for the other discomforts to come and also make us more resilient in the long run. Example - If i get my “good” meals for the day which was a bit uncomfortable at first I actually feel way better the next day or even that night because my digestion is better, my mood is better, energy is better which allows me to do what I need to do again. Same thing applies to workouts, talking to new people, putting ourselves out there, cold showers - all opportunities to get uncomfortable that actually leads to feeling comfortable in our skin over time. The key is just the consistency of putting ourselves in uncomfortable situations.
Couple ways to do this daily - when you workout you should actually push yourself and take this as a opportunity to gain some discomfort points. Also read, talk to your mom, eat your broccoli - all these are daily discomforts which shouldn't even be discomfort in my opinion but are good starting points. Then we can transition into starting a new project, taking initiative at work, starting a business, talking to that girl, make that first social media video, you get the point. These daily “discomforts” actually help us have a sense of purpose and constant growth without getting too comfortable/complacent.
